Some Holiday Runs

Christmas Morning we had our annual 10 mile (or less) run. This year we had a great turn out and great weather. Runners in attendance were:

On December 26th Mike Tammaro and the NRA put on the 1st ?Annual? Nooseneck 18k Race/Fun run. This was a free event starting at the Big River Inn in West Greenwich, RI on a difficult rolling course. Mike had all the mile marks out and cones at every corner, the Inn had some descent beer on tap and some good pub food to chow on after the run, making this a great event that should be put on every year. We had a few Turtles show up to get in some miles the day after Christmas.

Turtles were 1st place in the Men's Team Division with Bob, Dave and Dave scoring for a combined time of 1:46:32.

Also, newish Turtle Vicky Jasparro set a new PR. Wait 'til Vicky discovers how much faster she will rin once she has a Turtle singlet!!

Our very own Martin Tighe traveled to Texas this weekend to take part in the Sunmart 50 miler. Martin finished second out of 159 finishers. My research shows that first place finisher Matthew Lonegran is the husband of elite runner Marla Runyun.

I only wonder if Martin outkicked the 3rd place finisher or if he was catching Martin in the final stretch!

The Tuesday Night Meetings!

Last Tuesday night over a few pints and with the appropriate number of Turtles to make a vote that mattered...we voted to have a monthly meeting on the first Tuesday of every month. Therefore, tomorrow night December 1st, 2008 marks the first of these meetings. If you wish to speak your mind...or see others do so, please come out to Track 84 after the run.
